History
RSC was established in 1993 by Paul Emmott, a highly experienced technician who previously worked across Renault, Vauxhall, and Volkswagen Group dealerships. Paul founded the company to provide vehicle owners with a transparent, cost-effective alternative to main franchise dealers.
Over the years, the business has evolved to meet the growing technical complexity of modern cars. With nearly 70% of customer vehicles coming from the Volkswagen Group, we established a dedicated department tailored specifically to VW, Audi, SEAT, CUPRA and Skoda models – establishing ourselves as one of the leading independent VAG specialists in the North West.
In 2026, after more than three decades of success – including a top-5 finish in a national search for Britain’s top technician in 2006 – Paul retired. Ownership of the business was taken over by long-standing employees Peter Cosway and Damian Pickles, ensuring seamless continuity for our customers and team.
Operating from our modern Nelson garage, Peter, Damian, and the team continue to invest in genuine diagnostic equipment and specialist training, offering the same main-dealer quality service at a fraction of the cost.
We continue to make substantial investments at our facility, including in equipment, and in 2022 began offering services to owners of VW, Audi, SEAT, CUPRA and Skoda hybrid and electric vehicles. In order to competently and safely work on EVs, our technicians have undergone extensive training and have been awarded Level 1-4 qualifications by the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).
