Wet belt inspection
Our knowledgeable technicians can inspect the condition of your wet timing belt and the components within the timing system as part of a thorough inspection. Unlike a conventional timing belt, a wet belt runs inside the engine and is lubricated by engine oil, so its condition can be affected by the age and condition of the oil, incorrect oil specifications and general wear.
Wet belts are fitted to a number of modern petrol and diesel engines, including Ford EcoBoost and EcoBlue engines and engines used across PSA and Stellantis brands such as Peugeot, Citroën, DS and Vauxhall. Wet belt service
As part of a wet belt service, we’ll inspect the timing belt and associated components and check the condition of the engine oil and lubrication system. Where required, the engine oil and filter will be replaced using the correct specification of oil for your engine. Regular servicing with the correct oil is particularly important for wet belt engines, as the belt runs in contact with the engine oil and incorrect or degraded oil can contribute to premature belt deterioration.
Wet belt repair and associated components
A deteriorating wet belt can cause problems beyond the belt itself. As the belt breaks down, material can contaminate the engine oil and potentially restrict the oil pickup, affecting the engine’s lubrication system. We’ll assess the condition of the system and check for any signs of restricted oil flow or associated damage.

When replacing components, our skilled technicians will only use Original Equipment (OE) parts or a high-quality equivalent, and will carry out the work to the highest standard.
Wet belt problems can be particularly relevant to vehicles such as Ford Transit models and Ford EcoBoost engines, as well as vehicles fitted with PSA/Stellantis engines. Wet belt replacement

Do I need a wet belt replacement?
The most reliable way to determine whether your wet belt needs replacing is to check your vehicle manufacturer’s recommended service interval and have the belt inspected where appropriate. A wet belt can deteriorate internally or become affected by oil contamination without producing an obvious warning.
Here are a few tell-tale signs:
- Illuminated engine or oil warning light
This can indicate a problem with the engine lubrication system or another fault that requires investigation. - Low oil pressure
Deteriorating belt material can potentially restrict the oil pickup and affect oil circulation. - Engine warning light
A deteriorating or damaged timing belt can affect engine timing and trigger a fault. - Unusual engine noises
Rattling, knocking or other unusual noises may indicate a timing or lubrication problem. - Visible belt deterioration
Where the belt can be inspected, cracking, fraying or material degradation may indicate that replacement is required. - Approaching the recommended replacement interval
